What happens if someone filled out my tax paperwork incorrectly?

I trusted someone to fill these out for me and it turned out to be a total disaster. They completely messed up the tax return and now I am so worried about getting in trouble. What can I do? Can I stop my tax return from going through?

If the return was already filed, do not despair. You can file an amended return, using Form 1040X. You can correct all errors by using this form. The form is a little tricky so in light of your experience you may want to get a tax attorney or good tax accountant to assist you.
